Dudley Interchange

The new Dudley Interchange is a key part the regeneration of Dudley Town Centre, a transport hub that will allow passengers to switch seamlessly between bus services and the Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Metro extension.

The Transport for West Midlands scheme is just one in a series of major regeneration projects which are are set to transform Dudley town centre. This will help in connecting residents to jobs, education and training opportunities as well as leisure and healthcare facilities.

Latest works

Work inside the building is progressing well. Internal blockwork on the upper concourse on the west side is underway while teams are continuing to install the systems that will carry essential services like wiring and pipes.

Mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) installations are also moving forward throughout the building.

The first fixing of the passenger lifts has begun with the initial components being put in place and more work to follow.

Both inside and outside, progress is being made on the building including work on the exterior edges of the roof (fascia and soffit) as well as suspended ceilings inside.

On the roof, environmentally-friendly features are continuing to be added such as a sedum (green) roof, screening for plant equipment and solar panels.

In terms of the civil engineering works, the first phase of the apron area has made good progress with the cement bound granular mixture (CBGM) and base course now completed.

Brickwork is continuing on the structures along the northern access ramp and has also started on the KP wall.

On the eastern footway, excavation work has been completed for tree planting areas which have now been filled with structural soil.

Installation of ducting for lighting and communication systems is ongoing across the site.

Taylor Woodrow is the main contractor for the project and construction has been underway since summer 2025. The interchange is set to open and be used by passengers in 2026.
